Happy #HalloweenHooky

Happy Halloween! Like my costume? So original, I know.

Today, my dude and I played Halloween Hooky — and yes, I gave it its own hashtag on Insta and Twitter — and did absolutely nothing Halloween-related (with the exception of eating chocolate, but we’ll get to that in a minute).

We went to The Field Museum for our own Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. It’s been years (YEARS) since I’ve been, and it’s even better than I remembered. The brand new 1893 World’s Fair exhibit is especially wonderful, as the Fair that year took place right in our fair city, and many of the artifacts helped launch the Museum itself shortly after.

Isn’t she a beaut?

Anyway, back to Halloween. One of the pros/cons (depending on how you look at it) of living in a Chicago high-rise is that you never get any trick-or-treaters. In fact, I’m not sure there are even any kids in our building (again, a pro/con, depending on how you look at it). So, I never buy candy. Don’t need to.

However, I am relatively obsessed with this candy bar from Trader Joe’s. Dark Chocolate Caramel with Black Sea Salt. And since it’s Halloween, it seemed appropriate that I share this obsession with you. It’s one of my favorite things — I definitely suggest picking one (or two) up next time you’re at TJ’s.

What candy are you munching on tonight? Hope you had a great Halloween.

PS: Tomorrow’s November 1st — yikes!
